Asbestos roof removal and replacement at the A.W. Edwards factory in Seven Hills

Project: A.W. Edwards Factory Asbestos Removal & Roof Replacement

Case Study

A.W. Edwards
Factory

Location:

Seven Hills

Size:

6,000 m²

Scope:

Asbestos Removal & Roof Replacement

Challenge

Asbestos Removal during the Christmas Shutdown

The project involved the removal and roof replacement of 6,000m² of existing asbestos roofing. The works needed to be completed within a tightly scheduled Christmas shutdown period, leaving a limited timeframe to safely remove the asbestos roofing, install a new roofing system, and minimise disruption to the client's operations.

Solution

Certified Removal & Complete Roofing Upgrade

A comprehensive project plan was developed to safely and efficiently manage the asbestos strip and reroof works within the shutdown window. The existing asbestos roofing was removed and disposed of in accordance with industry standards, with air monitoring conducted throughout the project and clearance certification obtained upon completion.

The new roofing system included the installation of Ausmesh safety mesh, high-performance Eureka insulation, and Zincalume Trimdek roof sheeting to provide a durable, weather-resistant solution. New gutters and downpipes were installed to improve stormwater management, while 30 industrial-grade 800mm diameter turbo vents were fitted to enhance ventilation and airflow throughout the facility.

Outcome

Facility back in Operation, on schedule

The project was successfully completed within the allocated Christmas shutdown period, allowing the facility to resume normal operations as scheduled. The client received a fully compliant, modern roofing system that improved weather protection, ventilation, and drainage performance. Through careful planning, coordination, and efficient delivery, the works were completed safely, on time, and to a high standard of quality.
